Thorsten Schmidt joined Catenion as an Analyst in 2010 and lives in Berlin.
Thorsten holds a Ph.D. from the Ludwig–Maximilians–University in Munich which he received for his studies of cell and molecular biology at the Max Planck Institute of Biochemistry. In his work he identified regulatory mechanisms in the biogenesis of centrosomes and cilia. Prior to his graduation, Thorsten studied biology at the Eberhard Karls University Tübingen, worked as a research intern at the University of California at Berkeley, and completed his degree at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver.
Before and during his studies, Thorsten has been a successful rower on an international level and competed in the 2000 Sydney Olympic Games and several World Championships as a member of the German National Team.
In his free time, Thorsten enjoys cycling, swimming, exploring Berlin as well as outdoor activities such as ski tours and mountaineering.
